The Art of Kindness
Term 1 - Term 4
The Art of Kindness
Step into a vibrant exploration of art as a universal language of inclusion, diversity, and belonging. This immersive workshop invites students to experience the transformative power of creative expression through the lens of cultural appreciation and shared traditions.
Inspired by numerous exhibitions at HOTA including the interactive installation by Hikoko Ito’s Happy Birthday 2U2 installation at HOTA Gallery, we’ll reflect on how artmaking and gift-giving can spark meaningful connections—even between strangers. Through this lens, students will engage in activities that celebrate the richness of global customs, with a special focus on gratitude and the diverse ways families and cultures express it.
In creating an artwork to be gifted, students will explore personal and creative expression as a powerful vehicle for creating a sense of belonging. This engaging workshop invites students to create giftable artworks while exploring global gift-giving traditions and cultural customs. Through hands-on artmaking and storytelling, students will reflect on how personal and collective practices foster inclusion, trust, and belonging. Ideal for art all ages, it offers a meaningful way to connect creativity with cultural appreciation.
