Printmaking: Watermarks
Term 1 - Term 4
Printmaking: Watermarks
Learn the techniques of Gelli printing and foam carving, drawing from the colours, patterns, shapes and textures found in aquatic environments. Inspired by Ken Done’s Reef Paintings in the exhibition, Ken Done: No Rules and Henri Matisse’s large-scale print, Océanie, le ciel (Oceania, the sky) showing as part of A Bigger View. This workshop draws further inspiration from Lisa Sorbie Martins’ ‘Saltwater Heart’ exhibition which promises patterns from nature and unique connections to water.
Using multiple prints to create repetition, layering and variation we will focus on colour, composition and basic block shapes to create joyful, enigmatic, memory-based reflections on the flora and fauna of the ocean and waterways.
Please Note: This workshop commences on 7 March 2026.
