Little ArtLab – Costumes and Camouflage
Little ArtLab provides hands-on creative fun for kids aged 3-5 years to enjoy with their parents and carers. Little ones can experiment, play and create with art-based activities inspired by HOTA Gallery's current exhibitions.
Imagine blending into your surroundings by wearing the same colours, textures and patterns of the world around you. In Honey Long and Prue Stent’s photographic print Salt Pool, currently on display in Beneath the Surface, a figure shrouded in pink cloth blends and blurs with the dry salt lake, becoming an extension of the landscape.
In this workshop we will make use of a variety of fabrics and craft materials to play with different ways of presenting ourselves in the world. Masks and costumes may be used to conceal and reveal who we really are, beneath the surface.
Using digital cameras and with some help from our grown-ups, we will capture images that explore camouflage and abstraction of the human form.
Participants can select their best image to receive an instant print to take home!
We encourage you and your adult to explore the Beneath the Surface exhibition before or after the making activity.
Children must be accompanied by an adult or carer and cannot be left unsupervised at any time.
A $4 transaction fee will apply for e ticket delivery purchases (excluding free events + donations). For Hold at Box Office ticket delivery purchases, a $6 fee will apply. Please view full Terms and Conditions prior to purchasing your tickets.
