Play Colour with Llewellyn Skye | Two-Day Painting Workshop

Llewellyn Skye, one of the artists showing in Here and Now: Gold Coast Triennial, leads this wonderful two-day painting workshop opportunity.

This is for you if you’re looking to loosen up your drawing and painting style and explore colour! This will be a fun, energetic workshop with an emphasis on trusting your intuition, embracing loose gestural marks and not overworking your pieces. Suitable for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. All art materials will be provided.

Day 1 - COLOUR

Beginning with the colour wheel, you will mix and create your own colour library. Then, working from provided floral still-life set-ups or imagery, you will develop a unique colour palette, recording this in your own visual diary. Painted sketches will take you to the end of your first day.

Day 2 - DRAWING & PAINTING

Jumping straight in, you will learn how to switch on the creative side of your brain with various right brain drawing and painting exercises. You will be guided through various mark making techniques and ways of loosening up.

You will then bring all the elements and colour palettes together to create your own unique loose and experimental series of small sketches/drawings and paintings.

Tea and coffee and a light lunch will be provided. We recommend wearing clothing you don’t mind getting paint on and bringing an apron and water bottle.
